This first course in a 2-part series introduces methods which may be used to prevent dam failure from settlement, excessive deformation, liquefaction flow, and stability failures. After completing this course, dam owners and engineers involved in the design or improvement of dams will be better to select the most appropriate method or methods of ground improvement for the dam in question.

The content of this course is the Federal Inter-agency Committee on Dam Safety video “Ground Improvement for Dam Safety Tape 1”.

This course includes a multiple-choice quiz at the end and is intended to provide 1 hour of professional development.
